Site Inventory

February 18, 2007 by wmuham2

Friday my group walked the site together. It was the first time for myself. My other teammates began their inventory, while I mostly observed the site to get an appreciation of its entirety. I am still mulling over what I am going to hone in on. I will be working on planning data for inventory over the weekend. I plan to meet my teammates on Monday and conduct another site visit.

Today was not a good day

February 11, 2007 by wmuham2

Saturday is my work day at my part time job. My plan was to get off at 3:30 and be on campus at 6 to work until the wee hours. But Murphy’s Law reared it’s ugly head. My car would not start. I was stranded at work. So instead of working on my computer, I worked on a starter. I fixed my car but have not progressed on my project. I don’t like making excuses so I am looking at all nighters until Monday. I won’t be able to explore the options Brad suggested at my desk crit because of time, so I am going to progress with what I have. Hopefully, I can print tomorrow evening and work on my model tomorrow nite. May the force be with me.

Pharcyde

Actually, to state it better the group performed the video’s actions in reverse, even saying the lyrics backwards so when the vido was played forward, they and their mouths move forward while their surroundings move in reverse.

Project 1c

I have watched Pharacyde’s Drop and have extracted what I think is it’s essence. The group (the video’s focus)  are at the different speed and in reverse in their context.  The end of video is actually the beginning in real time. The video is played end to beginning.I have watched both my sequence concurrently with video in an effort to engender some inspiration. I have a diagram that describes the essence of the video. Waiting on crit to see if I am headed in the right direction.

Sequence

I have finished part 1 of B. my reasoning behind the timing is since I have basically two catergories, each category has the same amount of time. But since one category has 2 subcategories I divided the time of that category into half increments. one picture per subcategory with each having half the time with an aggregate of the time of main category. make since to me but we will see. movin on to  symbols

Categorizing Vacant Properties

I have divided my pics into two categories underdeveloped and post-development vacant. Underdeveloped has  subcategories: manicured and unmanicured. I hope this help to accomplish project 1b.

Project 1

This is why I came to grad school. kudos to project 1. Anyway, I traveled Florida Blvd the day the project was assigned. I had thought of what I wanted to take pictures of before I went out, which was vacant properties. I counted the number of vacant properties to make sure the number was sufficient (25-100). My second trip was to take pictures. I started  at North 13th Street and Florida with only pictures on one side of the road (the opposite of the direction I was going), I assumed it would be safer that way. I turned around at North Sherwood Forest and took pictures on the other side.  I numbered each shot in sequence with an address or intersection this proved to make it easier later. I then cropped the photos with Photoshop using the batched command, which took less than a minute for the whole set. It took longer to learn the command but it was worth it.  Yahoo maps aided a little in creating placemarkers. Placemarking took the longest time.  I installed VPN.  The rest was just following the instructions that I noted. Can’t wait for part 2.
